This is simple and delicious recipe. It is a real treat specially for weight watchers. Chakali is made in many varieties as a traditional treat for festivals such as Diwali. It is a popular Indian snack, is usually deep-fried . Here is the recipe to make them in a healthy way by baking in oven. Munch them at anytime of the day when hunger strikes.

Ingredients:

2 cup rice flour (chawal ka atta)
1 cup low-fat curd (dahi)
4 tsp sesame seeds (til)
2 tsp chilli powder
a pinch of asafoetida (hing) , optional
salt to taste
2 tsp oil

Method:
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, mix well and knead into a semi-soft dough using enough water.
Preheat oven at 360°f (180°c).

Put the mixture into a chakali press and  start into spiral form on a greased baking tray. Bake the chakalis in a pre-heated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, turning all once after 15 to 20 minutes.

Cool and store in an air-tight container.

 

Tips:
1)You can add 2 tbsp of oil instead of 2 tsp. It reduces the cooking time and  makes the chakali a little softer.
