Moong daal
serves: 3-4 people
1/3 Cup Yellow moong daal (washed and soaked for 30 min- 1 hour)
3 ½ Cup warm water
½ finely chopped onion
3-4 garlic cloves (crushed)
½ Tsp Cumin seeds
½ Tsp turmeric
2 Tsp red chili powder
1 Tsp Garam masala
pinch of asefoetida
salt for taste
1 ½ Tbsp oil

Drain the water from daal and keep it aside (warm the water which we used to soak daal).
In a pot heat oil add cumin seeds, crushed garlic and onion, saute till onion gets transparent. Add soaked daal, saute for 30-40 sec. add turmeric, asefoetida, red chili powder, garam masala. Mix well, add warm water, add salt. Close the lid, Cook on low flame until daal gets soft. Now remove the lid, add ½ cup water and let it simmer for few minutes till oil gets separated at surface.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with roti/chapatti and rice.
