Maharastrian style Fish curry…..One of my favourite dish as I love seafood so much. Sharing my moms method to make this fish curry which is spicy and very delicious.

Ingredients:
Marinating the fish:
3-4 Fish pieces(I had catfish, one can use any fish like surmai, pomfret)
1/2 Tsp salt
1/8 Tsp asefoetida
1/4 tsp turmeric
1 Tsp lemon juice
How to marinate the fish:
Clean and wash fish pieces 3-4 times. drain the excess water. Transfer the pieces into bowl, now add all the ingredients. Toss the ingredients with fish pieces(Make sure that all the spices covers each piece), add lemon juice, mix well and set aside for a 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Gravy:
6 Tbsp grounded curry masala (1/4 cup and 2 Tbsp)
3-4 Pieces of marinated fish
1 -1 1/2 Tsp kala masala or 1 Tsp red chili powder, 1/2 Tsp garam masala(or as per the taste)
2 Tsp oil
1 1/4 Cup water
Salt for taste

Method:
Heat oil in a vessel, add grounded masala. Saute for a while, add kala masala, mix well and add water. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for 5 minutes on medium low heat, now add marinated fish pieces and let it cook till fish gets cooked and gravy thickens a bit. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and enjoy with chapati/Bajara roti, rice.

Tips:
1) Do not add too much salt, fish will taste salty. Do not add too much salt at the time of marination too.
2)Add salt in the curry after adding fish, sirst taste the curry then add salt.
3) Fish needs very less time for cooking, so do not cook for long. one can add fish heads as it’s little difficult to fry them.
4)I love spicy food, so this proportion is perfect for me. One can change the proportion for masala powder as per their need.
5)This Curry is little liquidy(I prefer this way). But one can add more grounded masala to make it thick and also can cook for little longer for desired consistency.
