I made these vade for Gudi padwa naivedya. It is so easy to make and very tasty which can be served as a appetizer.

Ingredients:
1/2 Cup dry Skinless split green gram (dhuli moong dal) soaked in water for aound1 hour and drained)
2 Tbsp White sesame seeds + for coating
1 1/2 Tsp Red chili powder
1/4 Tsp Turmeric powder
1 Tsp Cumin seeds
1 Tsp Fennel (saunf)
1 1/2 Tsp Dried mango powder (amchur)
2 Tbsp Gram flour (besan)
1/4 Tsp Asafoetida
2-3 Tbsp coriander leaves
salt to taste
Oil for deep-frying + for greasing

Method:
Grind all The ingredients together except oil and make coarsely paste(add 1-2 Tbsp water only if needed). In a deep pan heat oil on medium to high heat. Grease a plastic sheet and your palm with little oil. Spread some sesame seeds on the  sheet. Take small portion of mixture and spread on the sesame seeds to make a vade. Make small hole in the center, sprinkle some sesame seed on the top. Carefully add the vada in oil and deep fry on medium heat till they becomes golden and crunchy from outside. Drain the excess water on tissue paper. Serve hot with Green chutney and tamarind-dates chutney/sweet chutney.
