This fish curry cooked in hot red chilies, spices and well flavored with kokum. This hot and sour fish curry is perfect for spicy food lovers 😛

 

Serves:1-2 People
Ingredients:
4 Pieces of fish(I used cat fish)
3 pieces of kokum
1 Tbsp coconut oil, I used sunflower oil
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 finely chopped onions
1 Tsp shredded ginger or sliced onion
4-6 Dried red chilies soaked in warm water for 30 minutes and then make paste
4-5 curry leaves
2 cloves of garlic(finely chopped)
Pinch of fenugreek seeds
Salt
1/2 cup water

Method:
Heat coconut oil in a kadhai, add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Add fenugreek seeds, add onions and saute the onions till they turn golden brown. Add chopped garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
Add red chili paste which we made earlier to the sauteed onions and continue to cook till the oil separates from water. Add water, kokum, fish, curry leaves, salt and ginger to make the curry. Bring the curry to a boil and let it simmer for 5-6 minutes till the fish cooks completely.  Serve hot with plain white rice.

Tips:
1) If one doesn’t have dried red chili , make paste with 1 Tbsp red chili powder dissolved in very little water.
2)If one wishes, marinate fish with salt and turmeric for few minutes.
