‘Bhadang’ Is a spicy chivda/savory snack made of puffed rice. Puffed rice has so many names like, Murmura(we call in Marathi), Churmure, Mamra.  I like puffed rice very much, so I munch it whenewer I want. There are lot’s of dishes which can be made using murmura. The one way I enjoy it with the Maharashtrian pickle masala(Lonchyacha Khar in Marathi).  Also, we can make laddu using it and of course chivda/bhel too 😛

 Ingredients:
10 Cups puffed rice
1/4 Cup Peanuts
1/4 Cup sliced dry coconut
1 Tsp mustard seeds/rai
1 Tsp Cumin
1-2 Green chili(depending on spiciness), thinely sliced
3-4 Garlic cloves
1/4th inch ginger
1/4th cup Curry leaves
1 1/2 Tsp coriander cumin powder
1/4th cup dried coriander
1/2th tsp turmeric
1- 1 1/2 Tsp red chili powder/ Kala masala
salt for taste
1/4 Tsp Asafoetida

Method:
Crush finely ginger, garlic, green chili in mortar and pestel. In a big kadhai/vessel heat oil on medium heat, Add  peanuts fry till pink. Remove from the oil and set aside. In same oil add sliced coconut and fry till pink, remove from the heat, set aside.

Now add mustard seeds in the same oil, when it will start spluttering, add cumin. Add crushed ginger-garlic-chili paste and saute till garlic becomes pink and the water from chili evaporates(Cover your nose as the green chili leaves spicy aroma). Now add curry leaves, coriander.

Remove from the heat and add remaining ingredients, fried peanuts and coconut. Put it on low heat again and mix well. Taste and add salt as required (do not add salt at once as puffed rice has salt). Let it cool and store in air tight container.
